The problem lies with the same EPA that Nixon created and John Stewart liberals for 40 years who have stopped this country from building one nuclear plant, one new refinery, drilling for any easy to reach US oil, and prevented companies from opening new coal mines.
Renewable energy do not have the capability to meet current, and much less, future global energy demand.
So, unless the libs and tree huggers find some majic bean, then they can blame themselves for this country not getting off foreign oil (or domestic oil for that matter). They need to deal with reality ... or immediately stop using wi-fi, cell phones, driving their cars, and stop wearing clothes (that contain mostly petroleum based products, or teh natural fibers were grown with petroleum based fertilizers and harvested with a huge diesel John Deere tractor ... but I digress ;)
BTW - thought I would address the folks in video laughing at GW when he referred to switchgrass as a renewable fuel source ... "In contrast to corn and sugar cane, agricultural byproducts like switchgrass need not be farmed using energy-intensive methods and can be harvested under naturally-occurring conditions. Switchgrass, for example, grows faster, uses less fertilizer, can grow on land unfit for other agricultural purposes, and also double as a source of animal feed." http://bioenergy.ornl.gov/papers/misc/switgrs.html
But then again, these folks were sitting in the audience waiting for John to tell them how and what to think - which is simple - ignore all facts when it comes from a republican.
