Update 2: A new purported death photo of bin Laden has been released, viewable here.
Update 1: Hat-tip to a commenter for providing evidence that the above photo is, as expected, a fake. If you're still interested in seeing the fake you can do so by clicking 'Read more' below.
Osama bin Laden's identity was confirmed with DNA from the brain of his late sister, who died of cancer in Boston. Her brain was preserved by the U.S. for the very purpose of one day identifying bin Laden's DNA.
Here is the alleged death photo that is flying around the internet, supposedly taken with a Marine's camera; the photo is also being shown on Pakistan TV.

Confirmed: This photo is fake |
There are more precise reports on where bin Laden was shot. Previously it had been reported that bin Laden was shot in the head but new reports are saying he was in fact shot in the left eye, which would appear to agree with the below photo.
I suspect an official photo will ultimately have to be publicly released (or leaked), as was done with Saddam Hussein's sons and others. Hoax rumors are already running rampant here and strong evidence in the form of a photograph and/or other proof will help the U.S. put the conspiracy theories to rest.
This photo has been on the internet for years. Its not a new one.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a source which speaks to that?
ReplyDeleteObviously Photoshopped.
ReplyDeleteLook closely

Perhaps, but there is a logical reason for a photo of a dead bin Laden to be leaked early after the operation is completed to dispel the claims, which are now rampantly circulating, that bin Laden's death is a U.S. hoax/conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteThis video is FAKE and was edited in Photo Shop!!!

The compound you pictured is not the one, and the pic is a fake. Bad research.
ReplyDeleteIn the first hours after word came out that bin Laden had been killed the BBC and other prominent news organizations made repeated mention of this exact photo as possibly being the actual death photo.
ReplyDeleteAs the Guardian article points out, many professional news organizations were also displaying the photo.
And some news organizations and blogs have even tried to cover up the fact that they were reporting on this photo.
The bin Laden death story evolved rapidly in first few hours after the news broke. It's been challenging to stay on top of the facts and rumors as the poured forth. But as soon as new facts are confirmed I've updated posts as quickly as possible.
